STAR/CHILD is the only astrology app just for parenting. It’s a complete parenting playbook based on your unique astrological chart and the charts of your whole family. Here’s what you get to work with: * Ultra-detailed relationship breakdowns that unpack what astrology says about your relationship with your kids and co-parents (and how they vibe with each other too) * Full birth charts for everyone in your family along with an extensive and highly specific analysis of what each of your placements has to say about your parenting style — and what your kids’ charts have to say about what exactly they’re likely to need most from you in order to thrive. * Daily horoscopes for you and each of your kids that take everything happening up in the sky and translate it into the essential things you need to know to make the most of your parenting life on any given day. * Daily audio readings to give you the essential rundown of the day: what's the vibe, what to expect, and how to make the most of it. * Weekly audio astrology previews to take you deep into the coming week's astrology and what it means for life with kids (and life in general). * Whole Sky horoscopes to show you where every planet, luminary, and node are in the sky on any given day: what sign they're in, what house they're in for you specifically, and what you need to know about each transit. * Downloadable guides that go in deep (we mean super deep) on what your Sun, Rising, and Moon signs say about your parenting superpowers, how you emotionally process things, what parts of life with kids might be challenging for you, and how to deal with all of it. Your family isn’t like anyone else’s. This is your super-detailed guidebook to life with your weird little crew, specifically. Just as they are, just as you are, explained by the astrology of the moment you were born, and every moment you’re living in now. Moonsense is a quiet companion for the night sky. It shows you tonight's moon, helps you actually find it, and keeps a private record of what you notice along the way. TONIGHT'S MOON See the current phase, moonrise, moonset, and the moon's zodiac sign for your exact spot on Earth. If you would rather not share your location, just choose your place on a map instead. Either way, it never leaves your device. THE MOON FINDER Point your camera at the sky and Moonsense guides you with live direction and tilt. When the moon itself is in view, the photograph takes itself. Every night you look becomes part of your own moon calendar, one real photograph at a time. BREATHING FIELDS Four guided rhythms, each with living artwork that swells and settles with your breath. Add a soft tone that plays a slightly different frequency in each ear, best with headphones. Sessions run one, three, or five minutes, or stay open until you choose to finish. Moonsense keeps a gentle count of your breathing minutes each week. A PRIVATE JOURNAL Write reflections and record dreams, with a reading offered while the dream is still fresh. Edit or delete anything, any time. Your words stay yours. READINGS Draw one tarot card a day. Read your daily, weekly, and monthly horoscope. Once a week, let Moonsense look across your notes and show you the patterns forming there. WIDGETS Tonight's moon on your home screen, in a night or paper style you choose. MEMBERSHIP The free app includes tonight's moon, a breathing field, your first moon photograph, and the full journal. Membership unlocks every breathing field and session length, a photograph for every night, horoscopes, tarot and dream readings, and the weekly journal reading. Billed yearly with a three day free trial, or monthly. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account. Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Moonsense at none against STAR/CHILD's shown. STAR/CHILD's advantage is ratings volume (421 vs 4). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. STAR/CHILD sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Moonsense sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for STAR/CHILD against 4.5 for Moonsense. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: STAR/CHILD has 421 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
