Portside Horizon vs Fly5by5

The Portside Horizon Crew App is a simple and user-friendly tool that's connected to the main Horizon App, but made just for crew members. With this app, you get an easy way to see your schedule, get reminders about duties and flights, and note down details after each flight. It also has a calendar and a duty schedule. Horizon is an efficient resource for managing tasks related to flight operations.

5-by-5 is the complete aircraft ownership platform — whether you fly solo or as part of a partnership or club, with one aircraft or a whole fleet. Built by pilots who got tired of spreadsheets, group texts, and binders full of PDFs, 5-by-5 puts everything you need to manage your aircraft in one place. SCHEDULING Book flights on a shared calendar with color-coded member slots. Sync to Google Calendar or Outlook. Convert bookings to logged flights with one tap. FLIGHT LOGGING Log flights with tach or Hobbs times, airports, routes, and landings in under a minute. The tach cascade system keeps your flight history perfectly continuous — even when flights are inserted or corrected after the fact. MAINTENANCE TRACKING Track annuals, oil changes, ADs, time-limited components, and more — with automatic due-date calculations and dashboard alerts. Import Airworthiness Directives relevant to your aircraft with a single tap. SQUAWK REPORTING Report aircraft discrepancies with severity levels and photos. Grounding squawks show a bold alert so no one flies a broken airplane. A&P MECHANIC ACCESS Invite your mechanic with a dedicated role — they get access to maintenance records and squawks without seeing scheduling, billing, or member data. PILOT CURRENCY Automatic FAA currency tracking from your logged flights — day, night, IFR, medical, and flight review. Always know where you stand. MANUALS LIBRARY 130+ POHs, maintenance manuals, engine guides, and accessory documents for the most common GA aircraft — always with you. ASK AI Answer aircraft, avionics, and procedure questions grounded in your aircraft's actual manuals. Ask AI can also help you book or reschedule a flight directly in-app — just tell it what you need. FLYING CLUBS & PARTNERSHIPS Shared scheduling, per-member billing, expense reimbursement tracking, cash flow projections, member roles and titles, and group-wide currency tracking. Everything a group needs to stay coordinated whether you operate one plane or a whole fleet. TREASURER TOOLS Draft and publish monthly invoices, payment reminders, Stripe / bank / Venmo / PayPal / Zelle collection, with multi-line adjustments for reimbursements and one-off charges.
