Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Kidco.ai at 5.0 against Odyssey XR's 3.0. Kidco.ai also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). Odyssey XR's advantage is review sentiment (41% vs 0%) and ratings volume (59 vs 3). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Odyssey XR sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per year and Kidco.ai sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $19.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Kidco.ai holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Odyssey XR has 59 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 41% of Odyssey XR's written reviews are positive against 0% of Kidco.ai's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Odyssey XR ships an update every 2 months, Kidco.ai every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
