Waypoints - A map for your world Waypoints turns your daily movement into a private, living map, completely automatically. See where you’ve been, find the places you visited, and view curated statistics based off your data, all processed locally on your device. It’s built for iPhone, respectful of your battery, and designed to keep your data yours. What it does • Automatic timeline. Waypoints logs your routes and draws your journey line for any day. No manual tracking required. • Past Places, found fast. Browse by day or search by name or category, or even just find it on the map. • Add your story. Attach notes to visits, and view photos take at that time so the context stays with the map, not lost in your camera roll. • Deep iOS integration. Encrypted iCloud backup and support for Shortcuts make Waypoints fit right into your setup. • Import & export. Bring in visits from Photos, GPX, and Google Timeline; export your own data to GPX anytime. • Live Activities. Keep an eye on how long you've been at that coffee shop from the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, all automatically. Privacy by design • By default, Waypoints uses privacy-minded HassellHaus Overpass servers powered by OpenStreetMap. • No geocoding history kept. Our servers don’t store a history of your geocoding requests or link them to your identity. You can even use your own, the server is open source! • Works fully offline. You can turn off iCloud sync, geocoding, telemetry, and add places manually. Waypoints continues to work with zero network access. • Minimal, optional telemetry. Anonymous usage and crash data helps improve the app; no personally identifiable information (PII) is collected. You’re in control and can disable it right when you download the app. Waypoints is free to use with limitations. Some features require purchase to unlock. *Google and Google Maps are trademarks of Google LLC. *Live Activities and Dynamic Island require compatible iPhone hardware and iOS and is considered a Beta feature in Waypoints Waypoints was made by one dude with love and a lot of coffee. The world starts covered. Every street, park, and neighborhood you visit stamps a hex tile and uncovers the map beneath — your own fog-of-war over the city. WALK TO REVEAL YOUR MAP Move through the real world to stamp hexes and light up the places you've been. Track how much of your city you've explored, from single hexes to whole neighborhoods, cities, and countries. PIN MEMORIES TO PLACES Tap any hex you've stamped to name it, jot down what happened, and attach photos. "Satay by the sea." "Saturday kouign-amann." The place itself holds the story — not a camera roll you'll never scroll back through. Your map becomes a journal. FOLLOW WHERE FRIENDS HAVE BEEN Add friends by phone number and, once you both approve, see each other's stamped tiles and memories — on the map and in a feed of real places, not posed posts. Discover the corners of your own city that your friends already love. PRIVACY FIRST: WE STORE HEXES, NOT YOUR GPS TRAIL When you stamp a tile, M records only a coarse hexagonal grid cell — never your raw GPS coordinates or a continuous movement trail. Your movements stay yours. M can use background location so hexes are stamped as you move, even when the app is closed. You choose the permission level; the app works in foreground-only mode too.
