Language In Use

What started as a simple idea has grown into a multilingual learning tool. It is free to use, with adverts helping to fund the work. I keep improving it, and I would love your feedback. When I started learning English, my teacher told me to keep a rubrica: a notebook for new words, their translations, and regular revision. The method worked. The notebook did not β it stayed at home, it never told me what I had forgotten, and it never once tested me. Language In Use is that notebook, rebuilt for your phone. BUILD YOUR OWN DICTIONARIES Add words, sentences and idioms in any language pair, with translations, notes, gender, articles, verb tenses and pictures. Sort them into as many dictionaries as you like. Everything is kept on your device, so you can revise on a plane or underground, and it syncs with your account when you are back online. PRACTISE WITH OVER 15 GAMES Your own words become the questions: Flash Cards, Quiz, Listening, Hangman, Word guess, Word search, Crossword, Word wheel, Gender, Picture, Fill the gap, Sentence builder, Word builder and more. Verbs get their own Conjugation challenge across tenses. LOOK UP, LISTEN, ASK Search a word's meaning or a verb's full conjugation from the home page. Hear the pronunciation where audio is available. Ask the AI tutor when a rule refuses to sit still. JOIN THE COMMUNITY Chat with other learners one to one or in groups, and follow learning groups where members post questions, tips and news. KEEP THE STREAK Experience points, levels, daily streaks and practice-time statistics show your progress week by week, in the app and on the website. ON EVERY SCREEN YOU OWN iPhone and iPad, in light or dark mode, with the boards and cards laid out for the screen you are holding. Free to use with adverts. Optional in-app purchases top up lives, and an optional subscription removes the adverts for unlimited play. Your dictionaries stay yours either way. The app speaks English, Italian, Spanish, French, German and Portuguese β and you can learn any language pair you like.
