Both are free to download. StrongNet VPN sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per 7 days and ScanShield sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
ScanShield holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 91 and 160 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 94% of StrongNet VPN's written reviews are positive against 67% of ScanShield's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
