SAFFIRE vs Abbado Choir Trainer

The SAFFIRE app allows you to participate in a public virtual mass choir workshop with the BBC Singers. This virtual choir workshop offers you a rare opportunity to sing as part of the BBC singers and immerse yourself in the BBC Maida Vale studio. You can join the BBC singers live from your home on your mobile phone or tablet. The BBC Singers will be in their home studio at BBC Maida Vale. During the one hour workshop you will rehearse a newly commissioned piece with the BBC Singers that will be recorded by the app at the end of the session. You will be able to upload your singing recording at the end of the session and it will become part of the BBC Singers' Centenary Concert at The Barbican in October 2024. To take part in the virtual choir workshop on 21st May sign up at https://saffire.york.ac.uk/

The Abbado App is a personal trainer for choir singers — helping each member learn their part in new material faster. It shows you the score, plays back the notes, and can even listen to your singing to check whether you're hitting the right pitch. Abbado works with MusicXML, a common, widely supported format. You can try it with the built-in example scores, or import your own MusicXML files — either from your device or straight from the web. Behind the name: Antonio Guarnieri's conducting of Debussy's Nocturnes inspired the young Claudio Abbado to become a conductor. We hope the Abbado app inspires choir singers the same way — to strive for perfection, for musical quality, and for the wonderful feeling of mastery in choir singing. Abbado may well be the best free choir training app around. No app suits everyone, but there's only one way to find out if Abbado suits you. You have to try it. If you have access to the repository of your choir, you may also access an activity list, play lists, PDF lists and messages from the choir.
