Every restaurant app shows you the same twenty famous places. Local Haunts shows you the ones around the corner. Search near you and get independent restaurants only. National chains are filtered out (not downranked, filtered out), so a taqueria two streets away is not buried under the burger chain on the main road. WHY IT FINDS DIFFERENT PLACES Most apps rank by prominence, which is a polite word for fame. Local Haunts runs every search twice, once by distance and once by prominence, and merges the two. In testing, that turned twenty results into thirty-odd and changed them from landmarks into neighborhood places. NO CHAINS Chains are filtered by name and by how many locations we have actually seen for them, so a regional favorite with four locations in one state stays, and a national brand with four hundred goes. It is not perfect in either direction, and there is a support address for when it gets one wrong. VOUCH FOR THE PLACES YOU LOVE A vouch is one tap and it is free forever. No stars, no five-paragraph reviews, no arguing with strangers. Just how many locals stand behind a place. YOUR CACHÉ Save anywhere, signed in or not. An account keeps it on every device. WHAT PRO ADDS · Crown one best place per category — the best tacos, the best late-night · Lists across your Caché · The Recommended and Rare Finds sorts Pro is $9.99 a year. There is also a lifetime purchase, limited to a batch of 1,000, and the first 250 are Founders. WHAT WE WILL NOT DO Money never buys ranking influence. No business can pay to place, and paying us does not weight your vouch above anyone else's. There are no ads. There is no social feed, no followers, no public profile, and nothing you save is visible to anyone else. Local Haunts covers the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Hong Kong. Restaurant information comes from Google.
