Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Time Passage at 100% against Remove BG・Background Remover's 14%. Time Passage also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 2). Remove BG・Background Remover's advantage is rating (4.1 vs 1.0) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Remove BG・Background Remover holds the better App Store score, 4.1 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Remove BG・Background Remover has 36 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Time Passage's written reviews are positive against 14% of Remove BG・Background Remover's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Time Passage ships an update every 5 months, Remove BG・Background Remover every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
