Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: ELK Talk at 92% against Fantopia's 54%. ELK Talk also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Fantopia's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and update cadence (weekly vs fortnightly). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fantopia sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and ELK Talk sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Fantopia holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 1 and 4 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 54% of Fantopia's written reviews are positive against 92% of ELK Talk's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Fantopia ships an update weekly, ELK Talk fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 5, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
