Counsel EM is primarily developed for physicians serving in emergency medicine but should also be effectively used by family physicians and intensive care physicians. Counsel EM consists of Diseases, Cards, Scores, Procedures, Blood Gas Application, Diagnosis-Treatment Protocols, and Symptoms to Diagnosis sections. Diseases Section: This section is prepared in a compact format that provides with texts on over 500 diseases, avoiding the density found in textbooks, and presenting updated information in an easily readable and accessible format. This section will continue to be regularly updated along with the flow of information in the literature. Additionally, the diseases section is enriched with visual tools beyond plain text. Procedures: The detailed explanation of commonly performed procedures in the emergency department is targeted in this section. Visual tools are also used in this section to facilitate explanation. Cards: This section, presented in short texts, involves parts deemed most necessary to read out of the diseases. It contains over 1000 cards categorized under Disease Cards, Treatment Cards, and Drug Cards, aiming for ease of purpose-oriented reading. While Disease Cards section presents information primarily on the diagnosis and clinical findings of diseases, the Treatment Cards section provides with treatments of diseases in a concise format. The Drug Cards section consists of cards presenting information on the indications, doses, and side effects of drugs commonly used in the emergency department. Blood Gas Application: The Blood Gas Application provides information about the acid-base situation of the patients whom their data entered. Given the difficulty for physicians to remember blood gas formulas, this app facilitates the interpretation of blood gas results. Blood Gas application also evaluates the validation of blood gas devices, thus enabling physicians to have an idea about the reliability of the results. Another innovation in the Blood Gas Application is the transfer of the results to the application screen by taking a photo and avoiding the time loss in manual data entry. Scores: Medical scores are an indispensable part of current patient management, especially in emergency settings. In this section, medical scores commonly used in the emergency department are digitalized and made available to physicians. Diagnosis and Treatment Algorithms: Diagnosis and Treatment Algorithms consist of the algorithmic management of symptoms and tests commonly seen in the emergency department. Unlike classical algorithms, it guides the physician step by step to the result. Symptoms to Diagnosis: In this section, preliminary diagnoses are presented to physicians in order of probability based on data such as symptoms, signs, physical examination, and ECG findings. It is categorized into sections based on diseases such as neurology, infectious diseases, toxicology, etc. So, the diagnoses provided do encompass all the diseases seen in humans. Of note, the diagnoses in this section are preliminary diagnoses, not the definite ones, based on the relationship between the entered data and diseases. Counsel EM is an application created to contribute to healthcare professionals in almost every aspect of patient care processes. It will continue to be developed and updated regularly. Additionally, it should be remembered that Counsel EM serves as a clinical decision-tool assisting the physicians and does not replace them, and all responsibility for patient care remains with the physicians. This application is designed for physicians and is particularly not suitable for use by non-medical individuals. If used by someone outside the medical profession, they should seek medical advice from a physician before making any decisions. Screening Compass guides users through a simple three-step process to generate a personalized screening schedule. The app starts by collecting basic user information such as Age, Weight, Height, Sex (Male, Female, or Other), Pregnancy status, Smoking history, Sexual activity status, and Diabetes status. This information is crucial in determining which screenings are relevant to the user. Once the user enters their details, they are prompted to log the last date they had specific screenings tailored to them according to the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) guidelines. For users who have never had a certain screening, a toggle labeled “Never” allows them to indicate this. If selected, the app assumes the test should be scheduled as soon as possible and marks it as "Get tested today" in the list of upcoming screenings. After the user has logged their past screenings (or indicated “Never”), Screening Compass calculates when their next medical screening is due. It does this using the ScreeningManager.swift file. This determines the recommended frequency for each screening (e.g., every 10 years for colorectal cancer). Swift's Calendar API is used to calculate the next due date. If a user’s next screening is overdue, the app displays “Get tested today!” in bold red text to indicate urgency. Otherwise, the app highlights the next recommended date in blue for easy reference.
