Formline is a calm, precise planning app for iPad, iPhone, and Mac. Draw measured plans, arrange spaces in 3D, and work out what to build โ all in one local document. Use it when you need more structure than a sketch but less overhead than full CAD. Plan a room, map a garage or backyard, check whether furniture fits, or design a project with a clear cut list. PLAN โ measured 2D drawing - Draw lines, connected Paths, Walls, rectangles, circles, arcs, polygons, and text labels. - Work in millimeters, centimeters, meters, inches, or feet, including fractions (5 1/2") and feet-inches (5' 10 1/2"). - Type exact sizes. Tap once, enter a length, angle, width, height, or radius, and press Return. - Use smart snapping for endpoints, midpoints, centers, intersections, wall features, guides, and grid points. - Customize the grid for each drawing, including spacing, major lines, visibility, and a separate grid-snap switch. - Edit dimensions numerically, pin deliberate dimensions, offset them, and keep detached references when source geometry is removed. - Place doors and windows on Walls, then edit their width, offset, hinge, swing, duplicate, or delete them in place. - Use Apple Pencil on iPad for precise drawing, and export PDF, SVG, or PNG from drawing bounds. SPACE โ 3D rooms, yards, and layouts - Start from measured Room & Site Starters, or send a closed Plan Path or Wall into Space as an explicit detached snapshot. - Add walls, windows, and doors with real swing arcs, hinge sides, and door types. - Place 29 furniture, appliance, and everyday objects at true scale. - Draw your own 3D shapes. Outline a profile, extrude it, then edit faces, edges, and vertices directly. - Color objects and individual shape faces with curated swatches, the full color picker, or hex values. - Use clearance presets and Fit Issues to check whether objects, door swings, and keep-out zones have room. - Rotate, move, and resize objects with direct handles, snapping, live measurements, and numeric entry. - Review a homeowner-friendly Project Report and materials shopping export. BUILD โ parametric projects with cut lists - Create shelving, cabinets, wardrobes, workbenches, garden beds, planters, sheds, desks, dining and coffee tables, dressers, and TV stands. - See a live 3D preview plus dimensioned front and side elevations. - Get cut lists, hardware and fastener estimates, and cost estimates in your local currency. - Place a Build project into Space as a linked snapshot that updates only when you choose. IPHONE โ the same work in portrait - Open and edit the same .formline documents you use on iPad and Mac. - Move between Plan, Space, and Build from the menu in the top bar. - Plan and Space keep their tools on a rail along the bottom of the screen. Edit opens the inspector as a sheet. Everything stays local. Native .formline documents can move between iPad and Mac, with no account, analytics, or cloud requirement. On Mac, Formline adds document windows, keyboard commands, Finder import and Save As, rulers, guides, and print. Formline is intentionally focused. It is not a full CAD suite or BIM tool โ it is a compact precision workspace for people who want to plan clearly and keep moving. Formline is local-first. It does not require an account and does not collect analytics, telemetry, contacts, location, photos, camera, or microphone data.
