Verdict
The clearest difference is price: Bookdot at Free against SpiceRack's $1.99. Bookdot also leads on rating (4.9 vs 1.0) and update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months). SpiceRack's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 90%). On ads, in-app purchases and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Bookdot is free to download; SpiceRack costs $1.99 up front. Bookdot sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and SpiceRack sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Bookdot holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Bookdot has 66 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 90% of Bookdot's written reviews are positive against 100% of SpiceRack's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Bookdot ships an update weekly, SpiceRack every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
