Design a shot. See how it plays. Take it to the table. Billiard Shot Studio helps players and coaches explore shot ideas, understand cue ball movement, and build a personal practice library. Set up the balls, adjust the stroke, and watch the simulation show how each change affects the shot. EXPLORE MORE TABLES Set up shots on 7-, 8-, and 9-foot pool tables, Heyball, 10- and 12-foot snooker tables, or a pocketless carom table. Choose cloth colors to make the workspace your own. SEE EVERY DETAIL • Play, pause, scrub, and step through shots frame by frame. • Change playback speed from 2× down to 1/32× to see exactly how the balls react. • Turn on the Spin Indicator to see the cue ball's sidespin, follow, and draw as it travels. • Add Playback Effects: motion trails and flashes at the cue strike, ball contacts, cushion hits, and pocket drops. • Choose a cue ball style (Classic, Measle, Two-tone, or Two caps) and watch it roll. • Follow ball paths, see where balls make contact, and continue from where the balls stop. DIAL IN THE SHOT • Position balls precisely and zoom in up to 4×. • Fine-tune aim, speed, spin, cue elevation, and cue ball deflection. • Try ideas freely with undo and redo. • Drag the Aim, Cue tip, and cue stick popups out of the way to keep your shot visible. • Use portrait or landscape on iPad, resize windows, or fold and unfold iPhone Duo without losing your work. PLAN YOUR NEXT SHOT Tap a pocket to line up a direct pot, show a Shape Zone to plan position, or turn on Pocket Aim Lock to keep the pot on target as you adjust the shot. All free. Find Positioning Shot searches for a shot that pockets the selected ball and sends the cue ball toward your chosen destination. Then drag the destination target to explore nearby positions. Your first successful Find Positioning Shot each day is free; more require Premium. SAVE AND SHARE • Share a shot with a link or QR code. Anyone with Billiard Shot Studio can open it and load the exact setup, no account needed. Creating links requires sign-in. • Export shot images and videos. Videos can include the Spin Indicator and Playback Effects. • Save shots to your Shot Library with Premium, then organize them with collections, favorites, notes, search, sorting, and filters. The Library requires sign-in. FREE AND PREMIUM Core editing, simulation, playback, image and video export, Shot Links, Shape Zones, Pocket Aim Lock, and the first two object balls are free. Premium adds more object balls, saving new shots, creating collections, copying saved shots, random shots and layouts, break setups, watermark removal, and more than one successful Find Positioning Shot per day. CuePro turns your phone into a pool coach that actually sees the table. Photograph the table and CuePro reads the ball positions into a layout you can check and correct with a tap. Then it shows you the best shot on the table: which ball, which pocket, the exact aim line, and the spin to use. Can't make a clean shot? CuePro finds the safety that leaves your opponent nothing. RUN THE WHOLE RACK Beyond just the next shot, CuePro plans your run-out shot after shot, with the position you need to keep the table open. Every recommendation accounts for cut angle, cue ball travel, and the leave for what comes next. COACH IN AR Take the plan to the table. Tap View on Table and CuePro draws each shot of your run-out on the real cloth through your camera: the aim line, a true-size ghost ball, where the object ball goes, and where the cue ball should stop. Step through the rack one shot at a time. Needs an iPhone or iPad with AR. SHOT BY SHOT Or take the rack one ball at a time. CuePro puts three real options in front of you on every shot, each with the stroke it needs, and you pick the one you'd actually shoot. Undo anything you don't like, and play safe whenever the table says so. LIVE AIM See the shot on the real table. Tap the pocket, frame the object ball, and CuePro places a true-size ghost ball and the aim line on the cloth through your camera. The line follows you as you walk around to line up. Needs an iPhone or iPad with AR. EVERY GAME, EVERY TABLE • 8-ball, 9-ball, and 10-ball, with the right rules for each • Banks, where every ball has to come off a rail — single or multi-rail • One Pocket, planned the way the game is really played: when to score, when to move a ball up, and when to give it back • 7-foot, 8-foot, and 9-foot tables • Center-ball or full spin control, from beginner to advanced • Balls out mode for when it's do-or-die and every cut is worth trying WEEKLY RUNOUT One rack a week, the same rack for every player, proven runnable before it ever goes out. Read it, run it, and see how close you got. PRACTICE Drills gives you twelve set-ups to shoot on your own table — making balls, playing shape, or both, plus pattern run-outs with a sample run to step through. Log how many you made and watch your best, your average, and your lifetime percentage climb. Pattern Play hides the answer — the rack comes up with no lines on it, you call the pocket, and only then does CuePro show you the pattern it had in mind. Stroke Trainer uses the phone in your grip hand to catch a stroke that drifts off line, goes too far back or through, or twists at the wrist. FIND A ROOM Pool halls, bars with tables, and billiard shops near you, or in any city, ZIP, or address. Directions, a call button, and your regular spots saved. REFEREE Settle a disputed hit with slow-motion instant replay up to 240fps, frame by frame, so you can see exactly which ball the cue touched first. TOURNAMENT Single elimination, double elimination, or round robin with a playoff. Any size field, table assignments that stay put as results come in, finishing places as they're decided, prize money split by finish, and the whole bracket on a TV over AirPlay. SCORING A side-by-side scoreboard with a shot clock, built for the table, not a scorer's notebook. Keeps sets as well as games, and casts to a TV. SHARE ANY LAYOUT Send a table position to a friend with a single tap, they open it and see the exact same layout, ready to work through. FREE TO START Three-ball run-outs, the weekly puzzle, the scoreboard, and the room finder cost nothing and don't expire. Pro opens the full rack, table scanning, Live Aim, Coach in AR, Referee, Tournament, and Practice. Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: CuePro at 5.0 against Billiard Shot Studio's 4.7. Billiard Shot Studio's advantage is ratings volume (36 vs 3) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.6). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Billiard Shot Studio sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and CuePro sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
CuePro holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Billiard Shot Studio has 36 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.
Billiard Shot Studio ships an update every 3 weeks, CuePro every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
