Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Wallpaper Generator at 5.0 against Backdrop's 4.6. Backdrop's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs fortnightly) and ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Wallpaper Generator sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Backdrop sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Wallpaper Generator holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backdrop has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Wallpaper Generator ships an update fortnightly, Backdrop every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
