With this application you can set up and control Shelly Smart Home devices. The application can connect to the Shelly Cloud via a Shelly user account. All existing functions, however, can also be used completely without an internet connection. If you are in the local network, the devices communicate directly. Outside the local network, this is done via a Shelly user account. Updates can be easily distributed to the Shelly devices via smartphone. For this, they don't even need an internet connection. This is a private project and will be developed and improved by me as much as possible. Since I don't own all Shelly devices, some are not supported here. I am very happy about constructive feedback and suggestions.

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is ads: Shelly Home at none against Network Toolbox Net security's shown. Shelly Home also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and review sentiment (88% vs 75%). Network Toolbox Net security's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.1) and ratings volume (3.4K vs 9). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Network Toolbox Net security holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Network Toolbox Net security has 3.4K ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Network Toolbox Net security's written reviews are positive against 88% of Shelly Home's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Network Toolbox Net security ships an update every 2 months, Shelly Home every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
