Libice vs 3DCzech

The application presents the appearance of the fortified settlement in Libice nad Cidlinou in the Early Middle Ages by using virtual reality. If you walk around the site today, you will find on the acropolis only the marked foundations of the church and indistinct remains of the fortification. By using this application, we will try to convince you that there was much more to see at the site in the Early Middle Ages. If you look at specific places through the screen of your mobile phone, you will suddenly immerse yourself in the past. We selected nine stops located over the entire fortified settlement representing its most essential parts. Therefore, you can use the application as a guide. In the Guide section, you find a list of stops and basic information related to particular places or monuments. Points of interest and your current location are marked on the Map; thus, you can find your way around the individual stops. If you click on the 360°-icon in the text at individual stops, you can look around and immerse yourself in the 3D reconstruction of the fortified settlement, all by simply moving your phone. The application was created by the Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, v.v.i. within the framework of the Strategy AV21 programme of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

Download the 3D model of the castle before your trip so that you can view it from all angles and read everything important about its individual parts thanks to the offline function, even without the Internet. With some models, you can also view the appearance of the object over time and view your current position on the historical model, allowing you to perfectly imagine what it looked like on site in the 13th century.
