Scavenger
Read full descriptionHide full description
Scavenger is the shared grocery and shopping list for your whole household. Add items by typing, speaking, or snapping a photo of a handwritten list, and everyone sees the update right away. SHARE WITH YOUR HOUSEHOLD Invite your partner, roommates or family with a single tap. Once they accept, they can add and gather items, and everything updates for everyone right away. There is no Scavenger account to create and no password to remember. Sharing and sync run through iCloud. FIND STORES NEAR YOU Search for real stores nearby and add them to Base Camp, your list of saved stores, in a couple of taps, or add any store by hand. SCOUT: AI THAT DOES THE SORTING Scout sorts your list into categories automatically and turns a photo of a handwritten list into items. - Free: your core lists, sharing and sync, plus 25 free automatic categorizations (up to 5 can be photo scans) to try Scout. - Scout Lite: generous automatic categorization and 20 photo scans a month. - Scout Pro: everything in Lite, with 200 photo scans a month. One subscription covers your whole household (your Party), so everyone you've invited gets Scout too. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you can manage or cancel them in your Apple Account settings. YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS No Scavenger account, no ads, no third-party ad tracking, and we never sell your data. Your lists live in your own iCloud account. Your location is used on the spot, through Apple Maps, only to find nearby stores. Photos and list text sent to Scout are processed by Anthropic and are not used to train AI models; Northbaseworks does not keep them. Details are in our privacy policy. Scavenger is free to use for your core lists and sharing. Terms of Use: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ Privacy Policy: https://northbaseworks.com/scavenger/privacy

Verdict
GrocerEase and Scavenger are too close to call on the numbers: across 6 compared parameters — price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. GrocerEase sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and Scavenger sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
GrocerEase ships an update fortnightly, Scavenger every 8 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
