Verdict
The clearest difference is ratings volume: Smile App Launcher at 359 against App Blocker's 4. App Blocker's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and update cadence (every 11 days vs every 5 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Smile App Launcher sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and App Blocker sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
App Blocker holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Smile App Launcher has 359 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Smile App Launcher ships an update every 5 weeks, App Blocker every 11 days. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
