iOrienteering combines the convenience of a smartphone with the challenge of orienteering. As well as using QR barcodes to load the course, start, finish and read checkpoints, you can now use your device's GPS to detect your location. iOrienteering allows both score and point to point (linear) courses. Checkpoints can now be used multiple times, so Phi or Butterfly loops can be created You can set up private or public course. Private if just for you, your friends, a school or club. Public if anyone can take part. Simple and great fun. It is free to use. Although designed for orienteering it can be used in any situation where you would like to time or score an event, or you simply what to show someone has traveled to a specific location. For a fun example, you could use it on a stag night with a barcode at each pub or on a car navigation event to show various points have been visited. If you use the app for something unusual then tell us about it as we'd love to hear about it.

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Premier Padel at 4.8 against iOrienteering's 4.0. Premier Padel also leads on ratings volume (493 vs 4) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 26.0). iOrienteering's advantage is review sentiment (56% vs 42%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Premier Padel holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Premier Padel has 493 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 56% of iOrienteering's written reviews are positive against 42% of Premier Padel's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
