(NOTE: This free trial version is fully functional, but has a maximum of 10 Patterns) Have you ever tried going on a shopping spree for new yarn (in physical stores or online), only to feel completely lost by not knowing exactly how you would use that nice-looking skein of yarn, and end up purchasing the wrong thing - or purchasing the right thing, but in the wrong quantity - or worse, still: Leaving empty-handed? If your answer is "yes", then Crocheting Patterns will be your indispensable companion in the future. The inspiration in the form of your pattern library is right at your fingertips, wherever you go, and you can easily make sure that you purchase the right yarn in the right quantity - and with the right accessories. The app also helps you find inspiration on how to best make use of your current stash of yarn. The app lets you gain the perfect overview in a single place, whether your patterns are purchased, found in magazines, or your own creations entirely. You can categorize your patterns based from standard garment types, or create as many of your own categories as you like. You can have your patterns sorted alphabetically, by most recent usage, or in any particular order you like. Each pattern can be associated with as many categories as you wish. It is entirely up to you how many details you want to register for your individual patterns, but the more details you supply, the more help you will find in the built-in filtering function. When browsing your patterns, only the filled-in information is shown, so you won't have to deal with lots of empty fields. Using the camera, you can supply your pattern details with pictures of the model, attach PDF files for the instructions, or perhaps add pictures of the finalized garments. You can add as many attachments as you like, both for your categories, your patterns and your yarns. Use the Filter function if you need to search for a specific pattern in your pattern library, or just need inspiration for your next project, based on a specific yarn. In all aspects, Crocheting Patterns is an indispensable app, for the experienced crocheter and the newcomer alike!
Contrast

Made for parents and caregivers of babies 0–12 months. Contrast gives your newborn something bold and simple to look at, and gives you something calm to play while you do. Newborns notice sharp black-and-white contrast more easily than soft colours — these cards are exactly that: no clutter, no colour, just bold shapes and patterns arranged by age. What's inside • 11 card packs, 126 cards in all — bold newborn patterns, animals, shapes, vehicles, first things and more — organised by age band (0–3, 3–6, 6–12 months). Three packs are free; one purchase unlocks the rest • A distraction-free fullscreen viewer: swipe through cards, or let a slideshow run on its own • A baby lock so a stray touch can't back out or close anything while you're holding the phone for your baby • 12 soothing sounds — shushing, white noise, heartbeat and more — with a sleep timer, looping seamlessly in the background. Shushing is free; one purchase unlocks the rest How it works You hold the phone, about 20–30 cm from your baby's face, for short sessions, and stay with your baby. This is not a substitute for face-to-face time. Free to start. Three card packs, one sound, and one banner ad on the Home screen are what you get for free — ads never appear on the card viewer, ever. A one-time purchase (no subscription) removes ads and unlocks every pack and sound, for good. Privacy. No account, no sign-up. We don't collect any information about you or your baby — the only thing the app remembers, your baby's birth month, stays on your device and is entirely optional. Ads are non-personalised for everyone, everywhere: we don't build an advertising profile of you or your baby, and we don't track you across other apps or websites. See our full privacy policy for details on the few things our ad and crash-reporting providers see.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Crocheting Patterns Lite at none against Contrast's 1. Crocheting Patterns Lite also leads on ads (none vs shown) and device support (3 vs 1). On price and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.
