Why choose Polaris Focus over other productivity tools? Timers and countdowns pull your attention toward the clock and turn a focus session into a performance test, producing time anxiety instead of deep work. Notification- and app-blocking tools can only prevent external distractions, but they can’t silence your cognitive noise. On top of that, they get you addicted to a “sterile” environment to concentrate. Traditional productivity tools can’t help you reach sustained focus, because they’re rooted in hustle culture and productivity myths. Polaris Focus is shaped by neuroscience. It doesn’t ask you to fight your nature or your environment. Instead, it supports your brain's design and biological responses to help you reach and sustain deep focus. How it works Choose a focus scale Pick a session length, from XS to Mega, based on your energy and intention. Each scale represents a flexible window of time rather than a countdown you need to beat. Reach the focus state Lean into the low-stimulation environment until external distractions fade into the background. If your mind responds to an external distraction or starts drifting during the session, gently return it to the focal point. Notice the distraction; use one word to name it (notification, memory, worry, etc.); release any physical tension; and use the app environment as your anchor to reset the state of focus. Embrace time Feel progression with symbolic visual pacing. A dissolving asteroid gives you a subtle sense of time without telling you exactly how much time remains. It doesn’t compete for your attention or ask for constant clock-watching. Stay focused outside the app Your focus space remains active through Live Activities. Lock your phone or leave Polaris without losing your session, so you can use it as an anchor any time your mind drifts. Finish without racing the timer Focus for the time you have and move on when the session is over, or start a new session right away. No streaks, productivity scores, or performance metrics. Use Polaris for any task that requires deep focus: * Deep work and problem-solving * Creative thinking * Research and study * ADHD-friendly and neurodivergent workflows * Reading and writing * Meditation and reflection * Any task where watching the clock makes it harder to stay present Practice focus consistently. You can start with just one short session per day and gradually increase the number and length of your daily sessions. Over time, you will feel how your brain gets rewired: * You’ll be able to reach focus more easily and sustain it longer. * You’ll notice the quality of your thoughts, ideas, and solutions improves. * You’ll learn to ignore external distractions and reach the focus state in virtually any environment. * You’ll initiate and finish tasks with little to no resistance. * You’ll develop a better sense of time and establish a healthy relationship with it. * You’ll notice the cognitive noise and internal ambient hum tune down. Attentional Design Polaris is shaped by Attentional Design™, a neuroscience-informed approach to designing around attention and cognitive load. Polaris removes things that can compete for your attention: * Visible countdowns * Streaks and scores * Performance pressure * Excess stimulation * Unnecessary interruptions Subscription & Pricing Polaris Focus includes a 3-day free trial for new users.
