Now two days later I think it is a work of rare genius and still can't put it down. It's a good game to play after a hard day contemplating the meaning of life: playfully arguing with a friend about which series of Power Rangers had the highest special effects budget, or debating what you'd miss the most after an apocalypse. It's safe to say Doofus Drop is not for everyone*, but the emotional thrill of achieving a sweet long drop (through no personal skill, merit or entitlement) is just peachy. The game invites a sort of zen-state, where the less you care about the outcome and the more you pay attention to the details the further you appear to travel, but it might just be me. Neon Primitive is a fast arcade survival shooter about dodging glowing shape swarms, collecting shards, and evolving your weapons run after run. Jump into quick offline runs, fight distinct geometric bosses, collect temporary boosts and caches, and choose upgrades as your build mutates mid-run. Between attempts, invest in permanent Core Research, unlock pilots and banners, and push for better survival times. Optional Apple or Google sign-in enables global leaderboards and cloud-backed profile features. The game can also be played locally without an account. The one-time Full Game Unlock removes post-run ads, opens premium modes and full Core Research access, enables premium player skins, and gives free revive access without watching rewarded ads.
