Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Speed at 4.8 against Tap Count's 4.2. Speed also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ratings volume (64 vs 6). Tap Count's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (67% vs 40%). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Tap Count sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Speed asks for nothing beyond the download.
Speed holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speed has 64 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 40% of Speed's written reviews are positive against 67% of Tap Count's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Speed ships an update every 3 months, Tap Count monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
