Suck at cubing? Me too. So I wrote an app to help memorize full CFOP and improve my recognition time. I've gotten a lot better because of it and I hope it can help you too. How do I use it? However you want. I use it daily to learn and drill algorithms. Compare and contrast similar-looking cases. Time my solves in a variety of ways (metronome, casual, semi-blind). And jot down any notes. Why are some of your algorithms slow? That's just the way I learned them and it's hard to unlearn things. Good news though, you can easily change them to your liking or create entire collections. Does your timer use the official WCA scrambler? Not right now. It's a simplified method that is good enough for practice. It basically picks a random face, rotates it a random amount, picks another face, and repeats it 20 times. What is an alias? The solution for a T-Perm is (R U R' U') (R' F R) (R U' R' U') (R U R' F'). Using aliases, that can be shortened to 6 3 8 5. Much easier to memorize. Other cubers think I'm weird, but it works for me.

A modern cube timer that helps you train all aspects of your solves. Don't just track your times, train your mind to solve even faster. "Vertex: Cube Trainer" makes it easy to train on-the-go, with or without your cube. Take your cubing to the next level. Universal purchase means buy once and use across iPhone, iPad, and MacOS. Includes: F2L, OLL, PLL, COLL, ZBLL aglorithm sets. Last-layer recognition trainer with spaced repetition system and quiz functionality. Flash cards to train algorithm recall. Cross and xcross solutions within your selected number of moves with hints for pair and first-move. Simulate competition with inspection mode that announces at 12 and 8 seconds. Bluetooth Support: Supports Particula GoCube Edge bluetooth cubes. Keeps track of all OLL/ZBLL/PLL cases with recognition and execution time, so you can track which need most improvement. Shows you F2L stats including pause time per F2L pair. Automatically starts and stops the timer, and validates your scrambles. Works for iPhone, iPad, and macOS so that you can train on your preferred device. CloudKit integration stores your session across all of your synced devices.

Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Cuber App at 100% against Vertex's 0%. Cuber App also leads on price (Free vs $2.99) and rating (4.9 vs 1.0). Vertex's advantage is update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 5 months) and device support (3 vs 1). On ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Cuber App is free to download; Vertex costs $2.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Cuber App holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cuber App has 12 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of Cuber App's written reviews are positive against 0% of Vertex's.
Cuber App ships an update every 5 months, Vertex every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
