treaming gave us every song at once. Vinyl Player is for the ones you'd actually put on. Play an album in Apple Music and it becomes a record: pressed in the album's own colours, cut so no two are alike, turning on a platter in a room made for your music. Hang the ones that matter on your wall. Take one down. Put it on. LISTENING, ON PURPOSE A hundred million songs is a library. The ones you keep coming back to are a collection. Vinyl Player doesn't replace Apple Music; it sits on top of it. Your subscription, your library, your queue. It just changes how it feels to press play. A ROOM MADE FOR YOUR MUSIC Plaster, walnut, velvet, a midnight room with smoke hanging in the light, or a night sky. Lamp moods from candlelight to neon, or let the record light the room in its own colour. Lighting that breathes with the tempo of the song. A tonearm that sweeps inward as the side plays, and a needle drop you can feel. The interface settles the longer a record plays, so the music is what's left. YOUR RECORDS, ON THE WALL Swipe up from the deck and the room opens onto your collection: sleeves on wooden ledges, sorted onto shelves you name. Tap a cover and the sleeve rises, the record slides out, and the tracklist scrolls up behind it. Play a side, or a song, or spin the record in your hand just to look at it. EVERY ALBUM GETS ITS OWN PRESSING Each album is pressed once, just for you. If a pressing doesn't feel right, re-press it until it does. Keep coming back to a record and it may come back to you a little changed. EVERYWHERE YOU LISTEN The record on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island while it plays. The same pressing spinning on your Apple Watch, with the crown to skip and a complication to show what's on. Your wall, shelves and pressings follow you to the Mac through iCloud. Vinyl Player needs an Apple Music subscription. No account, no tracking, nothing to sign up for.

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is ads: Vinyl Player at none against RecordScratch's shown. Vinyl Player also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 71%) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). RecordScratch's advantage is iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
