Plask

Plask (Swedish for "splash") turns your Apple Watch into a tiny aquatic theatre. Pixel-art rubber ducks paddle around while you bathe or swim. On a watch with a depth sensor (Apple Watch Ultra, any generation, or Apple Watch Series 10 and later) the scene reacts to your real depth: ducks dive when you do, with your live depth, max depth and water temperature at the bottom of the screen. The water's temperature shows up in the scene itself. Cold enough and the surface ices over, scarves come out and breath fogs in the air; hot enough and it steams, bubbles and everyone lounges. Ordinary lake water looks exactly as it always has — the reactions are saved for an ice hole or a hot tub. The scenes feel your wrist, too. Tilt it and the water leans; flick it and it sloshes, heaps up against one side and rolls back. The shore and the sun tilt with you while the water moves against them. Ducks get thrown about, Johnny Castaway clings to his palm, and the surströmming tins go airborne. On watches with a depth sensor, Plask can even open on its own the moment you get in the water. Enable it under Settings > General > Auto-Launch > When Submerged, and the app walks you through the steps. On dry land? Tap "Try a Dive" and drive the water with the Digital Crown from the couch. Swipe sideways and the crown dials the water temperature instead. Between baths, the duck has an off-duty life. It lives on the launch screen, where you can drop in on it, feed it, hand it a toy and put one of your earned hats on it. It is a tjänsteanka — a government-issued service duck — so it keeps a dossier, a provisions journal, and files a report about your absence whenever you have been away. It cannot starve, cannot sulk and has never once been disappointed in you. There are no meters, no streaks, and it will never send you a notification. Every swim is also on the record: Kungliga Badverket, the (fictional) Royal Swedish Bath Authority, issues pixel-art certificates for your aquatic accomplishments — depth, duration, cold water, dawn dips, looking after the duck, and stranger things. Earn hats for your duck. Browse it all in Arkivet, your trophy room. Certificates sync through iCloud, so a new watch keeps your archive. NEW: PLASK FOR IPHONE The Authority has opened a front office on your phone. It is optional — the watch app needs no iPhone — but it is where the paperwork goes to be admired. Play every scene on a virtual watch in the Pool and tilt the phone to slosh it. Read your certificates and field reports in Arkivet and share them as story-sized cards. Visit the duck's file and its wardrobe. Put the duck on your Home or Lock Screen. The phone only reads what your watch has already filed; it never writes, and it collects nothing. FREE • Rubber Ducks scene in Classic Yellow • Live depth, max depth and water temperature on supported watches • Wrist motion in every scene • The iPhone office: the Pool, Arkivet, the duck's file and a Home Screen widget • The off-duty duck: the whole pantry, every toy, hats, its dossier and its paperwork • 55 achievements, a trophy room, and earnable duck hats • Demo mode with a dialable thermometer, watch-face complications and a Smart Stack widget PREMIUM (one-time purchase, no subscription, no nonsense) • 13 extra scenes: Aquarium, Sharks, Octopi, Aliens, Loch Ness, Jellyfish, Castaway, Surströmming, Bioluminescence, Fjorden, Vasa, Skjutbanan and Midsommar • Every duck color, even Goth • Depth gauge overlays • Surprise Me: a different scene every dive • One purchase covers the watch and the iPhone Works on any watch running watchOS 10 or later. Without a depth sensor the animations still run, they just don't know how deep you are. The optional iPhone app needs iOS 17 or later. For fun in shallow water. Plask is not a dive computer.
