AuraRead is free to download; LocalAudioBooksPlayer costs $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
AuraRead holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AuraRead has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of LocalAudioBooksPlayer's written reviews are positive against 89% of AuraRead's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
LocalAudioBooksPlayer ships an update every 17 months, AuraRead every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
