Equate 8 is a bold reimagining of the classic magic square—an innovative, addictive math puzzle featured at New York City’s Museum of Mathematics. Players rearrange numbers in a 3×3 grid to balance eight equations at once (three rows, three columns, two diagonals), racing to solve the puzzle in the fewest moves. With multiple operators, escalating difficulty levels, and medals awarded for efficiency, Equate 8 is as rewarding as it is challenging. Equate 8 is the sequel to our Webby-nominated game The Devil’s Calculator, named one of PAX’s 10 Best Indie Games of 2019. Disguised as a casual mobile game, Equate 8 is a powerful interactive learning tool. Our talk will explore the sophisticated math behind the project and debut a new feature allowing educators to design levels aligned with their curricula. With its blend of pedagogical depth, intuitive design, and playful challenge, Equate 8 shows how games can transform math education. It empowers students, supports teachers, and makes math feel like play. Solving the grid in fewer moves will gain a silver or gold medal, but a bronze is awarded regardless, so don't stress. The daily puzzle gives players a free way to play and unlock content. Acquire “streaks” tokens by playing regularly. Exchange medals and streaks for Challenges, packs of themed puzzles. If the squares seem too complicated, open the menu to try Snap Mode. A number will automatically be locked (circled) when in the correct place. This mode can be played in a limited number of sequences before it reverts to the default. Roll. Merge. Upgrade. Repeat. DiceIdle is a relaxing idle dice game where every tap rolls your dice and rains down coins. Merge matching dice into stronger ones, unlock a deep talent tree, and turn a single D4 into a roaring board of D20s. TAP TO ROLL, WATCH THE COINS FALL Tap any die to roll it. Higher faces pay more. Hold and drag to roll everything inside your tap radius at once — the more dice on the table, the bigger the payout. MERGE YOUR WAY UP Combine three identical dice to forge the next level. Level up your dice for higher values, brighter looks, and faster income. SIX CLASSIC DICE TYPES Begin with the humble D4 and work your way through D6, D8, D10, D12, and the legendary D20. Each type carries its own value, style, and upgrade path. A TALENT TREE THAT REMEMBERS Sacrifice your dice to recycle them into crystals, then spend them across a 30-node talent tree. Boost global income, slash dice prices, raise crit chance and crit damage, start every run stronger, and more. Every reset makes the next run faster. UNLEASH POWERFUL EFFECTS - Critical Hits and Mega Crits — a crit inside a crit that multiplies income by x100 - Chain Lightning — a critical hit charges a nearby die for x4 on its next roll - Resonance — a settling die triggers others of the same type to roll - Auto Throw and Multi Throw — let the dice roll themselves while you plan your next move PLAYS WHILE YOU'RE AWAY Auto Throw keeps the board rolling, so progress never stops just because you put the phone down. COMPLETE QUESTS, EARN MORE Roll, merge, crit, and spend your way through rotating quests that fuel your next prestige. BUILT FOR MOBILE - One-handed play - Progress saved automatically - No internet required - Available in multiple languages Whether you want a quick burst of satisfying rolls or a long, optimized prestige grind, DiceIdle scales to how you like to play.
