Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Formula Live Pulse at 71% against Lights Out's 23%. Formula Live Pulse also leads on price (Free vs $0.99) and ratings volume (13 vs 2). Lights Out's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.1) and in-app purchases (none vs 2). On ads and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Formula Live Pulse is free to download; Lights Out costs $0.99 up front. Formula Live Pulse sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Lights Out asks for nothing beyond the download.
Lights Out holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Formula Live Pulse has 13 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of Formula Live Pulse's written reviews are positive against 23% of Lights Out's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Formula Live Pulse ships an update weekly, Lights Out every 3 days. Both last shipped on October 25, 2026.
