STAmaster

STAmaster is the dedicated Static Apnea (STA) training companion for freedivers of every level โ from beginners working toward their first 2-minute hold to competitive athletes chasing podium times. PRECISION HOLD TIMER Voice-coached breath-holds with real-time contraction marking. The high-precision timer continues running when your screen locks, so you can train with your eyes closed. CO2 & O2 TRAINING TABLES Create fully custom CO2 tolerance and O2 adaptation tables. The app guides you through every round with audio cues and automatically logs each session to your history. AI COACHING A built-in rule-based coach analyses your session data and delivers personalised feedback after every session. Detect training plateaus, track CO2 tolerance trends, and receive actionable tips calibrated to your actual performance history. PERSONAL BESTS & ANALYTICS Every session is logged. Review your hold time history, PB progression, contraction onset trends, CO2 tolerance curves, and session volume over time in the Progress tab. 28-DAY TRAINING PLANS Generate a personalised 4-week training plan based on your current PB, goal, experience level, and weekly availability. Plans use proper periodisation โ foundation, CO2 focus, push, and integration weeks. 4MIN+ CHALLENGE Already holding 3:00? The 14-day 4min+ Challenge pairs a short guided prep each day (relaxation, rib-cage and diaphragm stretching, exhale holds, meditation) with breath-holds and CO2/O2 tables scaled to your PB, building to a relaxed 4:00+ attempt. SUPPLEMENTARY TRAINING Guided breathwork protocols, freediving-specific yoga flows, cardio sessions, and meditation exercises are all included โ because STA performance depends on whole-body fitness. HEART RATE & SPO2 Connect a Bluetooth heart rate monitor (Polar, Garmin, Wahoo) for live heart rate while you train. Add a Bluetooth pulse oximeter for live SpO2, with an optional low-SpO2 warning during holds. DIVE LOG BACKUP Optionally back up your sessions to a free freediver.space account and see your training next to your watch dives. SAFETY FIRST STAmaster enforces a mandatory buddy check before any wet static (in-water) session. The app will not start a water breath-hold without a confirmed training partner present. Freediving safety is non-negotiable. WHAT IS STATIC APNEA (STA)? STA is a competitive and recreational freediving discipline in which the athlete floats face-down and holds their breath for as long as possible. It is the foundation of all freediving performance and the primary target of breath-hold training. REQUIREMENTS - iPhone with iOS 17 or later - Bluetooth heart rate monitor or pulse oximeter (optional, for live heart rate and SpO2)

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: STAmaster at none against OxyBoost's 3. STAmaster also leads on iOS requirement (17.0 vs 26.2). OxyBoost's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 2 weeks). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
