A chapter of Proverbs a day, read or read aloud. Proverbs has 31 chapters, so the book already matches the calendar. Open the app and you land on today's chapter. A verse from it greets you each morning. FOUR TRANSLATIONS Read in the Living Bible, King James, English Standard, or New International Version, and switch between them at the top of any chapter. Every translation is narrated, all 31 chapters each. LISTEN, AND FOLLOW ALONG Press play and the app reads the chapter to you. The verse being spoken lights up and the page scrolls itself, so you never lose your place. Set the speed anywhere from 0.75x to 2x. WIDGETS Put the day's verse on your Home Screen and tap it to open today's chapter. Put your reading streak on your Lock Screen, where the circle fades through the day until you read, then turns gold. There is a step-by-step guide with pictures at solomonswisdomapp.com. A DAILY STREAK Read today's chapter, or listen to most of it, and the day counts. Pick a reminder time and we will send you one each day. DISCUSS EACH CHAPTER Leave a comment on any chapter and read what other people have written. We answer reports within 24 hours, and you can block anyone you would rather not hear from. LARGE, ADJUSTABLE TEXT One slider makes every verse bigger, and the app remembers where you set it. The app is free and always will be. Tips are optional and unlock nothing.
Taoist Diary
Read full descriptionHide full description
Taoist Diary is a quiet reading app. One meditation arrives each morning — a short passage from the Taoist, Buddhist and Stoic traditions, with a line to carry into the day. THE DAILY MEDITATION Three hundred and sixty-five mornings, each one built the same way: a title, a line from the source, a short reflection, and the name of the text it came from. Nothing to scroll through, nothing to catch up on. One day at a time. THE SHELF Ten complete works, in public-domain translations, free to read: • Tao Te Ching — Laozi • Zhuangzi — Zhuang Zhou • The Four Lesser Classics — Taoist canon • Actions and their Retributions — Anonymous, Sung dynasty • The Classic of Filial Piety — attributed to Confucius and Zang-tze • The Dhammapada — the Buddhist canon • The Sutta-Nipata — the Buddhist canon • Meditations — Marcus Aurelius • The Discourses of Epictetus • The Encheiridion — Epictetus You can read every one of them without paying anything, and without an internet connection once the app is installed. THE TALES Fifty-eight parables, retold from named sources across eight traditions — Taoist, Buddhist, Chinese, Greek, Indian, Sufi, Stoic and Zen. One arrives each week. Every tale names the work it came from; none of them were invented for this app. LISTENING Everything above can be heard as well as read: the daily meditation, nine of the ten books, and the tales, narrated. There is background music you can leave on underneath, or turn off. Listening is the part that costs. Reading is not. WHAT IS FREE, AND WHAT IS NOT Reading is free — the daily meditation and all ten books, always. Listening is a subscription: US$1.99 per month or US$19.99 per year, with seven days free before anything is charged. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless it is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of that period. You can manage the subscription and turn off auto-renewal in your Apple Account settings after purchase. Terms of Use: https://app.taoistdiary.com/terms Privacy Policy: https://app.taoistdiary.com/privacy YOUR ACCOUNT An account keeps your place in each book and carries your subscription between your phone and the web. You can delete it, and everything in it, from inside the app: Profile → Delete account. Published by Solomon Interactive LLC. Questions, or anything at all: contact@solomoninteractive.com
