Dot

Dot is a to-do list you talk to, and its background is a real sky. Say or write one sentence: "move the dentist to Friday at 4", "add butter to the shopping list", "what's on today". Dot works out the time, the section and the reminder for you. ONE SENTENCE IS THE WHOLE INPUT Natural language dates in eight languages. Say it or type it, either works. Anything that touches more than one task shows you a preview before it happens, and every change can be undone. REMINDERS THAT ACTUALLY ARRIVE Notifications are sent by the server, not scheduled by the app, so a task you add on your laptop still reaches the phone in the other room. SHOPPING STAYS ONE TASK A list lives inside a task as items you tick off, not as twelve rows cluttering your day. SECTIONS THAT BUILD THEMSELVES Your labels become the shape of the list, ordered by what is most urgent rather than alphabetically. A BACKGROUND THAT IS AN ACTUAL SKY The time of day is worked out from the real elevation of the sun at your location, so the interface goes dark at dusk in December and stays light at eight in the evening in June. Weather bends the colours, and a task that takes you outside on a wet day gets an umbrella next to its time. There is no theme setting, because the sky is the setting. BRING YOUR REMINDERS WITH YOU One tap imports from Apple Reminders, with a sheet to choose which lists come across. Your iOS lists become sections. ONE ACCOUNT, PHONE AND BROWSER The same tasks on your iPhone and on the web, kept in step as you go. Terms of Use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: The Next Shift Widget at none against Dot's 1. Dot's advantage is update cadence (daily vs every 3 months). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.
