Steel Tide is a real-time strategy game with large-scale battles. Raise a base, run an economy, and take the field with tanks, artillery, helicopters, jets and a fleet. Every unit has an armour class it is good against, so a mixed force beats the biggest gun. Artillery fires over ridges; point-defence towers shoot the rockets down. Transports put armour where the roads do not go. Crews that survive get better. When nothing else settles it, there is the silo. Play alone or together: • Conquest & Breakthrough against three grades of AI on generated or authored maps • Up to 8 seats in any mix of players and AI, in teams or free-for-all • Cross-platform PvP: phone, tablet, desktop and browser play on the same servers • Host your own server with one command and keep your games in your own hands • A scenario editor: paint the ground, place the spawns and the ore, play or share it • Modding system to customize units & buildings No ads or in-app purchases. Single player works offline.

Verdict
The clearest difference is price: Polygon Arena at Free against Steel Tide's $3.99. Polygon Arena also leads on ratings volume (13 vs 2) and review sentiment (100% vs 92%). Steel Tide's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 10 days). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Polygon Arena is free to download; Steel Tide costs $3.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Steel Tide holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Polygon Arena has 13 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Polygon Arena's written reviews are positive against 92% of Steel Tide's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Polygon Arena ships an update every 10 days, Steel Tide every 4 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
