A game of hide-and-seek on a coral reef. ■ Octopuses melt into their surroundings Overlap coral, seaweed, rocks or the seabed and your color slowly shifts to match. Stay still and you become very hard to spot. Move and the camouflage breaks for a moment. ■ But you can't just hide forever Camouflage burns energy. When it runs out you can't hide at all, so you have to leave your hiding spot and eat fish. That means the chase always happens. ■ Divers search with a spear Even a direct hit only catches 1 in 4 times, so you have to keep at it. Set a net on their escape route, or watch an ad for a speargun with three times the reach. ■ Sharks don't take sides Get too close and a shark bites an arm off and slows you down. Sometimes it eats you whole. Divers get bitten too, so nowhere in the sea is truly safe. ■ Play with both hands One thumb steers with the stick while the other presses the buttons. Throwing the spear, squirting ink and dashing are all on buttons, so hold your phone with both hands. Left-handed? Open Settings (the gear at the top right of the home screen) and set Handedness to Left to swap every button to the other side. ■ Play alone or with up to 6 friends Empty slots are filled by AI, so you can play by yourself any time. Share a room code and play with friends anywhere. ■ The Thrill Score Points build while you stay camouflaged, perfectly still, right next to a diver. The closer and more head-on you are, the higher the multiplier. Hiding in a safe corner scores nothing. ■ Caught friends can be freed Being caught is not the end. Stay beside a caught friend for 2.5 seconds and they are back in the game. Divers have to guard what they caught, so every capture turns into a standoff. ■ Close your eyes and vanish Inside a hiding spot, close your eyes to disappear completely for 10 seconds. You can use it once per match. ■ Ride sea creatures Stay still for half a second next to a sea turtle, manta ray or anglerfish to climb on. You take on its color and get carried along. ■ Seasonal events During events like Halloween and Christmas, a limited-time sea appears and you get limited hats just by opening the game. ■ Looks, not power Forms, colors and hats change how you look. The exceptions are Tiny and Mini Squid: their small bodies are a little harder to spot. Ink and the Speargun stay at one use per match, even with a subscription. ■ Monthly subscriptions (auto-renewing) - Ink Monthly, JPY 280/month: use Ink once every match without watching an ad - Speargun Monthly, JPY 280/month: use the Speargun once every match without watching an ad - Octopus Pass Monthly, JPY 560/month: both of the above, plus no ads after matches. You also receive looks (Slender form, Halo hat) on your first purchase, and you keep them even after cancelling - Items can be used ONCE PER MATCH. Not unlimited. Your strength does not change - Payment is charged to your App Store account when you confirm the purchase - Renews automatically at the same price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends - Cancel any time in Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions - If you already bought the one-time versions, they keep working without a subscription - Prices shown are the Japanese yen base price; you are charged the equivalent in your local currency.
