Chuffle

Chuffle is a daily logic puzzle about building a little railroad. Lay one line of track from the Depot to the Terminus that stops at every town on the way, with just the right amount of track around each one. Then sit back and watch a small steam train ride the line you built. Everyone gets the same two puzzles each day, a Normal and a Hard, and both are free. Monday's Normal is gentle, about a minute over your morning coffee, and the lines grow through the week to a bigger 7×7 board on the weekend. Every puzzle has exactly one solution, and you can always reason your way to it: no guessing, ever. HOW IT WORKS Each town shows a number: how many squares of its 3×3 patch carry track, its own square included. A 3 means nothing else comes near; a 9 means track all around. Drag your finger through the squares to lay track, tap an empty square to mark it with a cross, and watch each town's ring fill up until it turns green with a check mark. Two tiny practice lines show you the ropes before your first puzzle. SOMETHING NEW MIDWEEK From Wednesday, blue station towns send the line straight through and purple junction towns make it turn. On Thursday, mountains, lakes and forests get in the way. Each new idea arrives with a one-screen lesson the first time you meet it. A STEEPER CLIMB The Hard puzzle is for when you know the tricks. Its 7×7 and 8×8 boards have all of that from Monday, and each one needs a step where two towns share squares and you weigh them up together. A short lesson, Shared Squares, shows you how before your first. YOUR JOURNEY TIME The clock starts when you tap Depart and stops the moment the line is done. Stuck? Ask the Signal box: it shows one step of the reasoning, names the trick it used, and adds a minute to your journey. The Signal box handbook in How to play shows every trick, so you can spot it yourself next time. Beat your best time for that day of the week, Normal or Hard, and you earn an Express badge. Lay the whole line with no detours and no signals for a perfect run. SHARE WITHOUT SPOILERS Your result is five short lines: the puzzle number and day, your journey time, your punctuality, your detours and a link. It never shows the board, so friends can race you on the same line. THE ARCHIVE AND YOUR STATS Every Normal and Hard puzzle since launch day waits in the Archive. Missed a day? Solve either of its puzzles within 7 days and your streak carries on. Stats keep your streak, your punctuality, and your best and average journey for each day of the week, Normal and Hard. BUILT FOR IPHONE • Little haptic taps as you lay track, and a whistle at the Terminus. The sounds follow your silent switch, and your own music keeps playing. • An optional daily reminder, set up on your iPhone itself, at a time you choose. • Fully playable with VoiceOver, no dragging needed. • Daytime and Night railway themes, Reduced motion, and Challenge mode for when it's just you and the line. • The next two weeks of puzzles are kept on your iPhone, so a patchy signal on the train won't hold you up. NO ACCOUNTS, NO ADS Your journeys stay on your iPhone. Chuffle sends only anonymous counts so we can see how the puzzles are going: no cookies, and nothing that identifies you. Playing on the website already? A progress code from Settings brings your streak across.
