Stop fighting Microsoft Word. You have sailors and Marines to lead. You should not be stuck in SECNAV M-5216.5 trying to remember which margin a Memo For takes or where the page number sits. The manual is 200 pages. The letter is three. Naval Letter Builder writes the letter for you. Pick a doctype. Type or speak the body. Hit export. The app handles every margin, every banner, and every signature variant. The result is wire compatible with Word. EVERY DOCTYPE COVERED Standard Naval Letter (Chapter 7). Memorandum For Record (10-2.1). Memorandum For (Chapter 12). MOA and MOU with dual signature overscore block (10-2.6). Endorsements (Chapter 9). USMC Orders under MCO 5215.1K. Each renders with its own heading, signature variant, and distribution. ARMY MEMORANDA, NEW IN 1.1.0 (AR 25-50) Pick the Army on the dashboard and the whole app switches to AR 25-50: DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY letterhead, office symbol and ARIMS line, MEMORANDUM FOR and THRU addressing, numbered paragraphs, and a signature block with grade and branch. Six formats are covered: memorandum, MEMORANDUM THRU, memorandum for record, decision memorandum, and memorandums of agreement and understanding with the dual signature block. General officer grades are spelled out per AR 1-15. NAVAL EMAIL (CHAPTER 4) A normal email stays simple. A formal email adds the SSIC, serial, and date, with the complimentary close and the slash s slash line handled for you (4-2.2). Tag the subject (ACTION, SIGN, INFO, DECISION), pick plain, bulleted, or numbered body, then copy it out or open a prefilled draft in Mail. CUI and classified emails carry the marking and banner per DoDI 5200.48. VOICE DICTATION Tap the mic and speak the paragraph. It lands in place, indented per Figure 7-8. Voice commands for indent, outdent, new paragraph, period, and comma. Naval vocabulary is loaded so ranks, MEF names, and SSIC topics come out right. Runs on Apple's on device speech engine. Nothing transmitted. APPLE INTELLIGENCE, FULLY ON DEVICE Per section Improve buttons run a manual aware critic against your draft. The Full Scrub reviews every section and returns issues you can Apply or Skip, each citing the section it comes from. The review runs entirely on your phone; prompts and letter content are never sent to a server. iOS 26 and later. PHOTO, PDF, OR PASTE IMPORT Bring an existing letter in by camera scan, photo, PDF, or pasted text. Apple Vision OCR pulls the heading, body, signature, and distribution block. Per field confidence chips let you accept or skip each extraction, and smart doctype detection routes it to the right template. CLASSIFICATION SAFETY GATE Any source with Confidential, Secret, or Top Secret banners hard stops before any state is touched. The OCR text is discarded and no draft is created. CUI material routes through the standard DoDI 5200.48 acknowledgment. DRAW YOUR SIGNATURE ONCE Sign with your finger or Apple Pencil. The PDF export overlays the drawn signature above the typed name, and it rides every future letter until you redraw it. EVERY REFERENCE BAKED IN The complete SECNAV M-5210.2 SSIC database (2,240 codes), searchable by code or topic. A unit catalog covering Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard commands plus hundreds of Army commands, installations, hospitals, and National Guard headquarters with mailing addresses. NARA verified CUI categories. DoDM 5200.01 V-2 caveats. CATCH MISTAKES BEFORE YOUR COC DOES The built in validator checks every required field and format constraint before you export, from ALL CAPS and hanging indents to orphan subparagraphs (7-2.13). Every issue cites its rule and the step to jump to. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No accounts. No analytics. No ads. No tracking. Optional Face ID lock. FREE FOREVER No subscription. No in app purchases. Send a clean letter. Get back to your sailors, Marines, and soldiers. Naval Letter Builder is a third party tool. Not affiliated with the Department of Defense, the Navy, or any service branch.
