Make room for how you feel. Onion is a mood tracker and personal journal for easy check-ins, little notes, and a clearer view of your days. Pick a face that fits your mood. Add feelings, a tag, an association, or a thought if you want to. Come back when you feel like looking back. A SMALL CHECK-IN Choose your mood, add optional feelings, tags, associations, and a note, then save. Check in more than once a day or add an entry for a day you missed. Start from a Home Screen widget or a shortcut when a moment comes to mind. ROOM FOR YOUR WORDS Write a sentence or a longer reflection. Browse your journal by day, search feelings, notes, tags, and associations, and edit an entry when you have more to say. Share a saved check-in with a preview that lets you decide whether to include your feelings, note, and tags. SEE YOUR RECORDED PATTERNS Explore a mood calendar, charts, and a year in pixels. Compare logged days with and without a tag or association, then revisit the entries behind a pattern. These are observations from your journal, not explanations of what caused a mood. TAGS THAT ARE YOURS Add reusable tags for games, places, people, or anything else on your mind. Create one as you check in, pick it again later, and filter your journal by tag. Manage your tag library in Settings. FEELINGS IN YOUR OWN MIX Choose from all 38 Apple State of Mind feelings. Select any combination, including mixed feelings. Feelings are optional and are never inferred from your notes or mood rating. MAKE IT FEEL LIKE YOU Create custom moods and choose from 18 associations, including Friends, Work, Health, and Self-Care. Pick the Onion artwork or classic faces. Set an optional daily reminder at a time that works for you. YOUR JOURNAL, YOUR CHOICES No account to create. Entries are stored on your device. iCloud backup is on by default when available and uses your own private CloudKit database; you can turn it off in Settings and reopen Onion for the change to take effect. Turning it off does not remove existing cloud copies or change device backups. Onion has no developer-run server, advertising SDK, or tracking SDK. Use the optional device-authentication lock to limit access and hide entries in the app switcher. Export CSV or JSON copies, import a journal backup, or delete your entries in Settings. Shared copies remain wherever you send them. Optionally save check-ins with selected feelings and associations to Apple Health as State of Mind. Choose a momentary emotion or an overall daily mood. Check sharing status, retry pending changes, or explicitly send existing entries. Personal tags and notes stay out of Health. Onion does not read your Health data or detect changes you make there. Journal dates can appear in on-device search only if you turn that option on; notes, moods, and associations are not indexed, and journal search is unavailable while the app lock is enabled. FOR EVERYDAY REFLECTION For people who want a gentle mood diary without turning each check-in into a writing assignment. Onion is for personal reflection, not diagnosis or treatment. Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is ads: Onion at none against ISRU's shown. Onion also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 65%) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). ISRU's advantage is ratings volume (18 vs 1) and device support (3 vs 1). On price and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
