Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: QR Reader* at 4.4 against Remote Control's 3.0. QR Reader* also leads on ratings volume (12 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.1). Remote Control's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. QR Reader* sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and Remote Control sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
QR Reader* holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: QR Reader* has 12 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 0% and 0% positive.
QR Reader* ships an update every 4 months, Remote Control monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
