Miletos

Miletos is this awesome field research buddy for anyone exploring the ancient Aegean and Anatolia. Whether you're an archaeologist, a history buff or just curious about what's beneath your feet, it's got you covered. You can mark sites you find with GPS-tagged photos and notes, organize everything into your own categories and have your entire field log right there with you. The best part? It's all offline, no account or sign-in needed. Every discovery can be linked to the Pleiades gazetteer, the scholarly reference for places in the ancient world. Once linked, Miletos shows an offline place guide, a Wikipedia-sourced summary and photo for that site and it's pulled from a bundle of over 350 pre-loaded places. So, you can read the history of a location with zero signal. Refresh any guide for the latest version when you're back online. Toggle seven historical map layers right on top of the modern terrain: Roman roads, aqueducts, city walls, canals, ancient urban areas, and the coastline as it looked in antiquity. This is useful for understanding how a harbor city like Miletos once sat on open water where dry land is today. Nearly 4,000 gazetteer points reveal progressively as you zoom in, from major cities down to individual archaeological sites. Miletos collects no analytics, shows no ads, and never sends your photos, location or notes to any server beyond your own private iCloud account, which it uses only if you choose to sync. Your field notes stay yours: searchable, organized and available the moment you need them, on or off the grid with your preferance.
