Systems – Never Forget a Step Again Most mistakes do not happen because you do not know what to do. They happen because one small step gets missed. You leave for work and forget your charger. You hand over a rental property and forget to photograph the utility meters. You prepare an Airbnb and forget to restock the coffee. You launch a website and forget to test the contact form. You deliver a client project and forget to send the invoice. Systems helps you capture repeatable workflows so nothing gets overlooked. Instead of relying on memory, sticky notes, scattered documents, or rebuilding the same checklist over and over, create a System once and run it whenever you need it. A System can be anything: • A morning routine • A travel packing list • A client onboarding process • An Airbnb turnover workflow • A website launch checklist • A restaurant opening procedure • A monthly bookkeeping process Why Systems Works To-do lists are for one-time tasks. Systems are for things you do repeatedly. When a process is written down, you do not have to remember every step. Just follow the System and focus on getting it done. How It Works 1. Create a System from a repeatable process 2. Break it into clear, actionable steps 3. Run it whenever you need it 4. Check off progress as you go 5. When my kids were young, I started writing down the values I wanted to instill in them. Halfway through, something obvious hit me: they were going to learn those values best by seeing them in me. So I stopped writing about who I wanted them to be, and started writing about what I had to do. The answer was four daily intentions: 1. Do hard things — because grit is a practice, not a personality trait. 2. Avoid traps — because what you say no to shapes you as much as what you say yes to. 3. Be grateful — because what we choose to focus on becomes how we feel. 4. Help others — because grit spent on the people around you compounds. I came up with this six years ago. It didn’t become a daily practice until I built this app. That gap, between knowing what to do and actually doing it, is where most habit advice falls apart. Specificity is what closes it. “Lose weight” is not a commitment. “Walk after lunch” is something you either did, or didn’t, before your head hits the pillow. You check them off through the day, in the app or on a home screen widget. Over time, the streak grid shows you what you actually did, color-coded by category. There’s no penalty for missing a day. Just an honest record of the days you followed through, and the days you didn’t. You don’t change by writing down what kind of person you want to be. You change by doing four small things today, and then again tomorrow. Grit Method works on iPhone, iPad and iPhone Duo. Grit Method requires a subscription or a one-time purchase: an annual subscription (some include a free trial) or a three-year purchase that doesn’t renew. You can also try it free for a week, no payment needed. Manage or cancel anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings.
