About

FileAtlas

Understand the geometry behind endodontic instruments with FileAtlas, a 3D learning app for dental students, endodontic residents, clinicians and educators. EXPLORE NINE FILE SYSTEMS Inspect original teaching reconstructions of ProFile #25/.04, ProTaper Gold F2, WaveOne Gold Primary, RECIPROC blue R25, the original XP-endo Shaper, original EdgeFile X7 #25/.04, heat-treated DCTaperH #25/V06, XP-3D Finisher #25/.00 and XP-4D Standard 30/.03v. Drag to turn a model, pinch to zoom, and switch between the whole instrument, a close-up and a cross-section. SEE WHAT EACH FEATURE MEANS Select labeled features and connect the 3D surfaces with explanations of radial lands, cutting edges, flutes, the core, taper, pitch and lead. Reveal the conceptual core, compare two cross-sections, and use the searchable glossary to connect the terminology with the shapes. COMPARE SOURCE-QUALIFIED FORMS Use the shape selector to compare the original XP-endo Shaper's initial and expanded forms or the XP-3D Finisher's cooled/straight and warm/bowed forms. XP-4D Standard has one preformed teaching state. These illustrations do not simulate temperature or canal contact. BUILD HYPOTHETICAL EXAMPLES Adjust flute count, tip diameter, constant taper, helical lead, core ratio and land width. See the geometry change, remove the lands, try starting designs, and compare the whole file with a section at 8 mm. Your current builder draft is saved on your device. FOLLOW THE EVIDENCE The library includes 81 feature explanations and 53 distinct linked sources. Source pages distinguish documented features and nominal dimensions from the assumptions used in each reconstruction. Publisher and manufacturer links are available when you want to read further. LEARN OFFLINE The models, glossary and in-app explanations are included with the app. No account is required. Opening an external source needs an internet connection. FileAtlas is an independent educational app. Product names identify the instruments discussed; their use does not imply manufacturer endorsement. The models are schematic reconstructions, not manufacturer CAD. The custom builder illustrates geometric relationships and does not predict cutting, flexibility, fracture resistance or clinical outcomes. Inspection rotation is not a clinical motor program, and the shape comparisons are qualitative. FileAtlas does not provide patient-specific diagnosis, treatment recommendations or clinical operating settings.
