Ghosty Privacy

Ghosty is a privacy firewall that lives on your phone. It checks the connections your apps make and stops the ones that are there to track you. No account, no server in the middle: what Ghosty sees stays on your device. HOW IT WORKS A firewall has to sit where connections leave your phone. On iPhone and iPad that spot belongs to the built-in VPN system, so Ghosty asks iOS for a VPN configuration. There is no VPN server. Your traffic leaves your device for the sites you use, same as before. Ghosty looks at each domain lookup on the way out, answers the ones on your blocklists itself, and forwards the rest to the DNS resolver you choose. WHAT IT BLOCKS Five curated categories, each with its own switch: • Analytics – usage tracking and session replay • Marketing Trackers – cross-site profiling • Logging – crash and event-log uploads • Social Media – share buttons that phone home • Consent Management – consent-banner telemetry Add your own domains on top. Everything you block applies to every app on the device, not just the browser. SEE WHAT YOUR APPS ARE DOING • Home shows today's count and who tried most often • Activity lists every blocked lookup as it happens, grouped by what caught it • Insights breaks the day down by hour and by category • Worth blocking suggests domains your apps keep asking for YOU STAY IN CHARGE • Pause for 15 minutes, an hour, or until tomorrow morning. Ghosty turns itself back on, so you cannot forget. • Turn any category off with one tap • Remove the configuration any time in iOS Settings PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account and no sign-in • No server. Blocking decisions are made on the device. • Lookups, domains, and IP addresses never leave your phone • Usage reports are off by default and never include a domain or lookup. Turn them on or off in Settings. GHOSTY PREMIUM • See every lookup, allowed as well as blocked • 7-day and 30-day Insights • Real-time protection: blocks tracker-looking domains that are not on any list • Unlimited blocklist (the free plan keeps 10) • Choose your DNS resolver: Cloudflare, Quad9, Google, OpenDNS, Control D, and more Premium is available monthly, yearly, or as a family plan for up to six people. What you can check: - Expiry date and days left - Status classification: OK, Expiring, Expired, Failed - Issuer and subject - SAN (Subject Alternative Name) - Serial number and signature details - SHA-256 certificate fingerprint - SHA-256 public key fingerprint - Negotiated TLS protocol and cipher suite Key workflows: - Single target check for immediate troubleshooting - Full list scan for regular maintenance - Saved targets and latest results stored locally on device - Optional periodic background checks (can be turned on/off) Built for practical certificate operations: - Quickly identify certificates close to expiration - Compare protocol/cipher negotiation outcomes - Keep a simple watchlist for internal or public endpoints - Generate and review report-style outputs inside the app Security perspective for connected-device teams: - Includes TLS protocol and cipher suite visibility to support baseline security reviews - Helps teams spot weak or unexpected negotiated ciphers during routine checks - Useful as an evidence aid for internal security discussions and release readiness - Designed as a practical checker, not a complete legal/compliance assessment tool Regulatory context note: - In the EU, RED cybersecurity delegated requirements under Directive 2014/53/EU Article 3(3)(d)(e)(f) apply from August 1, 2025 for covered products - This app can support early HTTPS/TLS posture checks, but it does not certify compliance with RED-DA, EN 18031, or any other regulation/standard on its own Privacy and control: - No account is required to start checking - Targets and recent check results are kept locally for your routine usage - Privacy policy and terms are available from within the app Current release focus: - Core SSL/TLS checking flow and result parsing are available - Batch checking and retry flow are available - iOS background checks are best-effort (system-scheduled) - Multilingual UI foundation is integrated; some languages are still being refined This app is suitable for developers, operators, site owners, and anyone who wants a simple way to track certificate validity and TLS configuration from a mobile device.
