Will tonight's sunset be worth heading out for? Arrebol helps you plan golden hour and blue hour, see how promising the sky looks, and choose where to shoot. Check the light windows, a sky score with its reasons and confidence, and the sun's direction before you leave. A LIVING SKY • The sky on screen is rendered from the forecast: tonight's clouds, lit by the sun where it will be • The sun's whole day as one curve. Drag the time ruler and watch the light change • A countdown to the next sunrise or sunset, with golden and blue hour marked on the curve WILL THE SKY LIGHT UP? • A sky score for every golden hour, from high, mid and low cloud, rain and haze; at sunset it also checks low cloud toward the sun, and the forecast shows how confident each score is • Plain reasons, like "high cloud to catch the colour" or "low cloud may block the sun" • The next 24 hours of cloud and the next 10 days at a glance EVERY PLACE, ONE SWIPE APART • Your location first, then the spots you save. Swipe between them • Swipe up for the whole day: blue and golden hour, sunrise, sunset, moonrise and moonset with directions, twilight, day length, moon phase and the next full moon • Search cities, landmarks or coordinates, and see each place's local time PLAN THE SHOT • Sun & moon map: bearing lines from any vantage point and the day's sun path • Sky path chart, and a camera view that draws the path over the real sky • Add any window to your calendar SKY EVENTS FOR EACH PLACE • Solar and lunar eclipses to 2040, with coverage and contact times where you are, and directions to the path of totality • Meteor showers with the rate you can expect on the peak night • Live aurora outlook from NOAA space weather ALWAYS AT HAND • Alerts before sunrise, sunset, golden or blue hour, optionally only when the sky looks good • Live Activity countdown on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island • Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets The name: arrebol is Spanish for the red glow of clouds lit by the rising or setting sun. Accurate: sun and moon times are checked against the US Naval Observatory, and eclipses against NASA. Weather data from Apple Weather. Space weather from NOAA SWPC. Eclipse predictions by Fred Espenak, NASA GSFC.

A sky beyond the Home Screen. Skyline turns a Home Screen widget into a window. Beyond it lies a landscape, and its sky keeps changing colour all day long. ■ The colour is the sky, right now The sky is not a picture. The sun's position is computed from the date and the place, and the sky is drawn in the colour of that moment. Indigo before dawn, white morning, blue noon, orange dusk, then night. Whenever you look, the same hour is passing outside. ■ Anywhere in the world Pick a city and the sky is drawn in that city's local time. If it is night where you are but daytime there, the widget stays in daylight. In Reykjavík in summer, 10 p.m. is still bright. Search covers the whole world, and once chosen, no connection is needed. ■ A widget that moves At night, stars flicker — rarely, irregularly. Choose rain and drops run down the glass. You notice the movement when you happen to glance at the Home Screen; it is that restrained. ■ Twelve views Sea, Sky, Sunlight, Wind, Waves, City, Peaks, Forest, Meadow, Desert, Fog, Rain. Six frame colours, and two panes side by side make one wide window. StandBy is supported. ■ Today's Sky Sunrise, solar noon and sunset for your chosen place, the length of the day, the difference from tomorrow, where today ranks in the year, and how many days to the next solstice. Move the time and the whole screen becomes that hour's sky. A reminder shortly before sunset can be set. ■ Everything happens on device Not one photograph is used. Sky, sun and stars are all computed and drawn. The widget makes no network requests. There are no ads. Four views are free, along with worldwide place selection, Today's Sky, notifications and StandBy. A one-time in-app purchase unlocks the remaining eight views, six frame colours and the star-twinkle setting.
