Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: NPMusic at 5.0 against Waca's 3.3. NPMusic also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 3). Waca's advantage is review sentiment (71% vs 42%) and update cadence (every 3 days vs weekly). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Waca sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per year. NPMusic asks for nothing beyond the download.
NPMusic holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3 and 1 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 71% of Waca's written reviews are positive against 42% of NPMusic's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Waca ships an update every 3 days, NPMusic weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
