About

Even Up

Features

Even Up keeps track of money between you and one other person, and then gets out of the way. Scan the receipt. Even Up reads the items, the tax and the tip, and shows you exactly what it read so you can check it against the paper before anyone owes anything. TAX AND TIP FOLLOW THE FOOD Splitting tax and tip evenly quietly overcharges whoever ordered the salad. Even Up shares them out in proportion to what each person actually had, and the shared receipt says so in plain English. SEND A RECEIPT THEY CAN READ WITHOUT THE APP One tap turns a split into an image you can drop into any group chat. It lists what each person had, their share of tax and tip, and what they owe. Your own share is on it too, so the numbers add up in front of everyone. They do not need to install anything. NO ACCOUNT, EVER There is no sign up, no login, no email, no password. Open it and it works. Your balances live on your iPhone and nowhere else unless you switch on iCloud backup, which goes to your own private iCloud, not to us. NO PAYWALL Everything is free. No entry caps, no ads, no subscription, no "upgrade to add more". BUILT AROUND ONE PERSON AT A TIME Even Up keeps one running balance per person instead of a permanent group ledger. When you are square, you are square, and the slate is clean. ALSO IN THE APP - Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, including one for a single person - A Control Center control that opens straight into logging an entry - Split a bill by hand when there is no receipt to scan - Recurring splits for rent and subscriptions - Partial payments and settle up, with undo - Insights and a monthly recap - Export your entries to CSV, and import from CSV - Face ID lock - Photos, notes and voice memos on any entry ABOUT RECEIPT SCANNING Scanning is optional and Even Up asks before it sends anything. If you agree, the photo goes over an encrypted connection to Even Up's receipt service, which passes it to Google Gemini to read the text and send it back. No name, no email and no account goes with the photo, and the receipt service uses your network address only to limit misuse, for a day at most. Even Up's server keeps no copy; the photo stays on your phone with the bill. Google reads it on a paid plan under which it is not used to train its models, and may hold it briefly only to prevent misuse. You can turn scanning off at any time in Settings > Privacy & security, and everything else keeps working without it.
