Oropod

Oropod puts your production's footage in your hands. Made for film and TV professionals, it turns the storage and services you already use into one fast, searchable library of dailies. No new silo, and no uploading everything one more time. FIND ANY TAKE IN SECONDS: Oropod understands how productions are organised. Find any clip by scene, shot, take number, shooting day or tag (including circled takes), and search notes and metadata from the script supervisor, camera and other sources. WORKS WITH WHAT YOU ALREADY USE: Connect Frame.io projects, network storage (SMB), and Blackmagic URSA cameras, and browse everything side by side. More integrations are on the way. ALWAYS AVAILABLE, EVEN OFFLINE: Oropod works from a local copy of your data. Auto-download clips and metadata so browsing, searching and playback keep working in a basement studio, on a remote location, or on a plane. When disk space runs low, Oropod frees it automatically. MADE FOR ON-SET USE: Native performance on iPad, iPhone and Mac. Group files by take, switch between take versions, compare notes, and play footage right where you found it. Browsing stays instant and out of your way, so you can focus on the work. PRIVATE BY DESIGN: Your media flows directly between your device and your own storage and services. You sign in to connected services on your device, credentials stay in your Keychain, and diagnostics never include personal data. See our privacy policy for details. WHO IS IT FOR: Directors, producers, editors, script supervisors, DITs, and everyone else who needs the footage at their fingertips: on set, in the production office, or in the cutting room. GETTING STARTED: Explore the built-in demo productions to see how Oropod works, then connect your own sources. Browsing network storage is free. Connecting third-party services such as Frame.io requires a subscription, with a free trial so you can make sure everything works for you. Oropod has been developed in close collaboration with working filmmakers and thoroughly tested on real productions. Questions or feedback? RecceBoard
Read full descriptionHide full description
A recce board for directors, cinematographers. Previz made simple. Walk a location, film the shots you're thinking of, and push them around until the order feels right. Then press play and watch the whole thing as a film. The camera opens already framed to the board's format, and the lens buttons are labelled in millimetres โ the real focal length, so it means the same on any iPhone. Stop recording and you're in the trim. Next takes you back to the camera for the following shot. Shots sit where you put them, and the order of the film is the arrangement: left to right, top to bottom, the way a page reads. Move a shot and you've changed the cut. Record a voice-over over the whole thing or over a single shot, and lay music underneath. Export the film as a video or the board as a contact-sheet PDF, with your frame lines burned in. Boards sync through your own iCloud account, so you can start on the phone at the location and finish on the Mac. One purchase covers iPhone, iPad and Mac. Share a board with a six-character code. Nothing is collected โ no analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs. One purchase, no subscription. Want it to do something it doesn't yet? mail@carlooppermann.com

Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: RecceBoard at every 4 days against Oropod's fortnightly. Oropod's advantage is iOS requirement (18.2 vs 26.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Oropod sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per 7 days and RecceBoard sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Oropod ships an update fortnightly, RecceBoard every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on September 23, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
