From AutoPilot: offline flight training drills made by a CFII. Racetrack teaches IFR holding patterns: the entries, the timing, the speeds and the wind correction. It is built for instrument students, CFII applicants and rated pilots staying current. WHAT'S INSIDE Learn: eight chapters, from what a hold is to wind correction and ATC communications, with diagrams in the anatomy, turn and entry chapters. They cover standard and non-standard turns, the three entries, timing, maximum holding speeds, the five T's and the holding clearance. Entry Trainer: randomized holding clearances. Read your heading, pick direct, teardrop or parallel, and see your answer graded against the sector you are arriving from. A running score and your best streak track your accuracy, and an optional overlay shows the three sectors. Pencil Method: a step-by-step walkthrough of the pencil-on-the-heading-indicator technique for choosing an entry. Wind Correction: set the inbound course, turn direction, wind direction and wind speed to see the wind correction angle, the inbound heading, the triple-drift outbound heading and the adjusted outbound time, at a true airspeed of 120 knots. Quiz: 148 questions in ten topics, from entry scenarios and timing to airspeed limits, published holds and lost communications, each explained when you answer. WHO IT'S FOR - Instrument students preparing for the knowledge test and the oral exam - CFII applicants building the picture they will teach - Rated pilots staying current between instrument proficiency checks No account, no ads, no data collected. The lessons and drills work offline, in portrait or landscape, on iPhone and iPad. Racetrack is a study aid. It is not for navigation, and it does not replace the AIM, 14 CFR or your instructor.
