Decibels vs Kashf Lens
Price, ratings, monetisation and update history for both apps, side by side โ with what reviewers say about each.
Decibels
Read full descriptionHide full description
Decibels is a sound level meter that remembers what you measured. Point it at the noise, press start, press stop โ and the reading stays. Average (Leq), maximum, minimum, duration and the full level trace, saved automatically, every time. No account, no subscription, and nothing leaves your phone unless you send it. MEASURE โข A-weighted (dBA) or unweighted, per IEC 61672 โข Fast (125 ms) and Slow (1 s) time weighting โข LCpeak for impulses โ alarms, slams, machinery โข Live level trace with a ten-second window โข Calibration offset for matching a reference meter KEEP โข Every measurement saved automatically โข History with the full trace of each run โข CSV export carrying the settings it was taken under Decibels stores your measurements on your device and nowhere else. It records no audio โ only the level โ and asks for no location, no account and no identifiers. A note on accuracy: a phone microphone is not a calibrated instrument. Decibels is honest about that. Use the calibration offset against a reference meter for absolute readings, and treat it as an excellent relative instrument otherwise.
Kashf Lens

Kashf Lens turns your iPhone into a multi-sensor exploration tool. Visualize real-time data from three built-in sensors - magnetometer, microphone, and camera - presented through a sleek, immersive interface. IMPORTANT: Kashf Lens reads raw sensor data from your iPhone's hardware. It is NOT a professional inspection device and does NOT reliably locate objects inside walls. Sensor readings are influenced by many environmental factors and should be treated as exploratory data, not definitive results. WHAT THE SENSORS MEASURE: MAGNETOMETER Reads magnetic field intensity in microteslas using your iPhone's built-in magnetometer. Displays real-time fluctuations as you move your device near surfaces. Magnetic field changes may be caused by nearby electronics, metal structures, Earth's field variations, or other environmental sources. Uses Kalman filtering for smoother readings. SOUND FREQUENCY ANALYZER Records audio from your iPhone's microphone when you tap a surface. Analyzes the frequency spectrum using FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) to compare sound characteristics. Different surface materials produce different acoustic responses. CAMERA SURFACE INSPECTOR Uses your iPhone's camera with image processing to highlight visual textures, edges, and surface patterns in real time. Applies saliency detection algorithms to identify areas of visual interest on surfaces. FEATURES: - Real-time sensor data visualization - Room-by-room session logging - Advanced haptic feedback (Core Haptics) - Dark, immersive interface optimized for OLED - 100% offline - no data leaves your device - Educational sensor exploration WHO USES KASHF LENS: - Curious minds exploring how phone sensors work - Students learning about magnetism and acoustics - DIY hobbyists experimenting with sensor readings - Paranormal enthusiasts and Ruqyah practitioners - Anyone interested in environmental sensor data Results vary based on device model, environmental conditions, and surface materials. Kashf Lens is an educational sensor exploration app. It does not replace professional tools or inspection equipment. Your data never leaves your device. Full privacy, always offline.
