Point your camera at your plate. Calories, protein, carbs, and fat come back in seconds. Every ingredient is listed separately, with its own calories and macros. Rather type it? Describe your meal in your own words, like "grilled chicken salad with avocado and olive oil", and you get the same breakdown. HOW IT WORKS 1. Snap a photo of your meal, pick one from your gallery, or just describe it in your own words. 2. The AI reads the plate and estimates what is in it. 3. Check the numbers, adjust anything that looks off, and save it to your day. On iPad, there is a fourth way: drag a photo straight in from Photos, Files or Safari, side by side with whatever you were doing. The scan starts where it lands. NOTHING HIDDEN Most calorie counters hand you one number and expect you to trust it. MyPlate shows its work: every ingredient it found, listed separately, with its own calories, carbs, protein, and fat. Sirloin steak, 249. Brussels sprouts, 65. Olive oil, 44. You can see exactly where the calories came from, and correct any line before you save it. A TARGET BUILT AROUND YOU Your daily calorie and macro targets are calculated from your age, height, weight, activity level and goal, not pulled off a generic chart. Your home screen counts down as you eat, so what is left today is always one glance away. WITHOUT OPENING THE APP Put the MyPlate widget on your Home Screen and today's calories are there with everything else. There is a Lock Screen version too, so the number is waiting the moment you pick up your phone. EVERY DAY YOU HAVE TRACKED Tap the date at the top of the home screen and the whole calendar opens. Days you logged wear a ring showing how close you came to your target that day. Pick one to see exactly what you ate. WEIGHT, OVER TIME Log your weight whenever you step on the scale. See how far along you are toward your goal, your full weigh-in history, and a trend line across a month, six months, a year or all time, next to the calories you ate on those same days. OPEN IT AND START Answer a few questions about your height, weight, activity level and goal, and your plan is ready. There is no account to create, no email address to hand over and no password to remember. Whether you are losing weight, building muscle, or you just want to know what you are actually eating, MyPlate turns calorie tracking into a five-second habit instead of a chore. Start with your next meal. Privacy Policy: https://myplate.site/privacy/ Terms of Use: https://myplate.site/terms/

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Loop at 100% against MyPlate's 33%. Loop also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.1) and ads (none vs shown). MyPlate's advantage is ratings volume (20 vs 2). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MyPlate sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and Loop sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Loop holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. Written reviews point the same way: 33% of MyPlate's written reviews are positive against 100% of Loop's.
